As we start our 99th year, we gratefully acknowledge the immense support and affection we have received from so many.
This January we dedicate our efforts to offer special value items on the menu with great emphasis on body-warming spices and ingredients.
Start with hot drinks from the Cocktail List... our "Shania" Hot Toddy is special, homemade spiced cranberry liqueurs: with Hapusa or Amrut Fusion. Of course we have the New "Old Fashioned", the Bloody Negroni, and a variety of Martinis.
After all the feasting in December, we offer a bonanza of great vegetarian food. Highlights include: Deccani Platter (baghare baingan) - aubergine masala, lemon rice and Chettinad potatoes, Madras Vegetable Korma, as well as cauliflower with ginger, Vegetable Biryani, Vegetarian Lampreis, and Vegetarian Silver Crescent.
Refreshing crisped Spinach Leaf Chaat is a great cleanser after the feasting of December. For the first time we are serving a Tomato Rasam- a hot spiced tomato & black pepper consommé which is a great digestif. You can have it with an optional shot of vodka! Other winter-inspired entrées to try: Banjara Chicken Tikka - spicy, ginger, roast cinnamon, star anise. Banjara means gypsy.
Fish Exotica - seabream with Sri Lankan spices and roasted aubergine, perfumed with pandam leaf and with sambal.
New slow-cooked winter specials are Nargisi Lamb Kofta Curry - nargisi means 'narcissus' - yellow & white flower; kofta stuffed with egg. And lightly flavoured Chicken Dilkush - stuffed supreme in a sauce of almond extract.
Enjoy Veeraswamy's simpler lunch platters at special prices. A favourite Sri-Lankan dish of Lampreis at £32.
