Veeraswamy has won much praise from critics and guests since we first reincarnated it in 1997:

Fay Maschler (Evening Standard) in her review of the newly transformed Veeraswamy was full of praise, and gave it 4 stars out of 5. She said: "… Their recently completed total refurbishment aims to re-capture something of what we think of as a more graceful age. (It) finds inspiration from all over the sub-continent and from understanding of the way we like to eat now". Most of the main-course dishes are designed for sharing, and cast iron casseroles perched on warming lights makes the activity visually pleasing as well as emotionally satisfying."

Time Out in its citation for the award of Best Indian Restaurant said:
"This new incarnation, brought upon it by the owners of Chutney Mary, is dazzling."
"Freshly ground spices are used to give well rounded complex flavours."
"The beauty of the room, the slick service and the appealing dishes give a greater sense of luxury than any number of free poppadoms or potted palms ever can"

The Square Meal Guide says … “Veeraswamy is Britain’s oldest Indian restaurant, and also one of it’s best with standards remaining eminently high, combining food that is second to none, with exceptionally polite staff" …. “offering a menu that is as stylish and imaginative as the décor” and concludes by saying “no one is grumbling over value for money.”

The Zagat London Restaurant Guide said "Light years ahead of traditional Indian fare, the subtle cooking is so stylish it just might convert unbelievers"… "

Andrew Lloyd Webber (Daily Telegraph) said "One of the best new rooms in the Capital"

The Spectator said "Veeraswamy under its new Raj is doing splendidly and deserves to succeed"

Harper's & Queen said "the new interior is a triumph."

Jonathan Meades (The Times) found for example the Tandoori Chicken "wonderfully succulent", Lamb Biryani "excellent" and complimented the wines and service.

The Sunday Telegraph (Craig Brown) found the menu "a happy blend of the reassuring and the experimental", praised the food e.g. the lamb curry "tender, spicy and delicious", and the sweets "enchanting."

BBC's Food & Drinks programme on Radio 4 highlighted Veeraswamy as one of the few restaurants serving real Indian food

Charles Campion (Rough Guide to London) said "... There's …. an all new menu of bold, modern, and authentically Indian dishes of all kinds…" There's stunningly good regional Indian cooking, a wide variety of flavours and textures and all with well balanced spicing.
